In praise of slow strategy games on mobile

Mobile strategy usually means base builders with aggressive timers. Tide Baron goes the other direction, and it's a nice break.

The whole game is about trade routes and market timing. There's no combat, just the quiet satisfaction of a plan coming together over several sessions.

It rewards patience, which is unusual on a platform built around quick hits. I found myself opening it specifically when I wanted something to think about.

The interface deserves credit for making a dense economy feel approachable. Bad UI kills strategy games, and this one avoids the trap.

It won't be for everyone, but if you like planning more than reacting, give it a proper afternoon.
